Job Summary: 


A healthcare organization in New York City is currently seeking an experienced professional to join their learning department as their new Vice President of People Operations. The Vice President of People Operations will be a key leader responsible for shaping and executing a people strategy that drives organizational success. This role will oversee all aspects of human resources, including talent acquisition, workforce planning, employee engagement, DEI initiatives, and HR compliance. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with a deep understanding of HR best practices, a data-driven mindset, and the ability to foster a high-performing, inclusive workplace culture.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop and lead strategic HR initiatives that align with the organization’s long-term goals and workforce needs.

  • Oversee talent acquisition, onboarding, and retention strategies, ensuring a seamless and engaging employee experience.

  • Build and drive employee engagement programs, including leadership development, well-being initiatives, and recognition programs.

  • Partner with executive leadership to shape organizational culture and ensure HR strategies support business objectives.

  • Oversee workforce planning, ensuring the organization has the right talent in place to meet current and future demands.

  • Lead DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives, creating an inclusive work environment that reflects the diverse patient population.

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, HR policies, and regulatory requirements, mitigating risk while fostering a people-first culture.

  • Optimize and manage the HRIS system for tracking employee data, compliance, and performance metrics.

  • Drive data-informed decision-making by analyzing HR metrics, trends, and workforce analytics to improve operations and retention.

  • Collaborate with Finance and executive leadership to oversee compensation, benefits, and total rewards strategies.

  • Lead and mentor the HR team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, preferably in healthcare or a mission-driven organization.

  • SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent HR certification preferred.

  • Proven expertise in organizational development, change management, and workforce strategy.

  • Deep knowledge of HR compliance, labor laws, and healthcare HR best practices.

  • Experience implementing HR technology solutions, HRIS systems, and analytics tools.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and executive-level partnership skills.

  • Demonstrated success in building and executing DEI strategies within a complex organization.
